Well we arrived safe and sound in Dhaka at 5:46 am. It’s hot and muggy here, even so early. Some thoughts about the sites and sounds of the 23-hour trip…

– Air India shows two videos prior to flights. The first is your standard what to do, etc. The second is all about not throwing things like soda cans and paper cups down the toilets of the plane b/c it can clog (duh!) and this situation can impact you and your fellow passengers. It struck me very odd that this situation must have happened enough to warrant producing such a video.

-A crazy flight attendent who decided that service was overrated and using the overhead microphone to yell at people to “SIT DOWN” was a useful tool. She also liked to tell people “NO TOILET” when the trubulence light came on…

-Don’t bother watching “Edge of Darkness” with Mel Gibson…o painful and so dumb.

-I finally saw Avatar and thought how lucky I was not to spend $10 on it…then I realized I spent thousands more to watch it…it was okay, but nothing special.

– We took a van from the airport to our hotel and if you can imagine having buses, vans, cars, motorcyles, tuk tuks (three wheeled enclosed motor vehicles), rick shaws, bicycles and pedestrians all merging at once. Oh yeah, and driving at about 40 mph. Scary…all you hear are car horns. All these vehicles have adapted bumpers made out of steel…pics to follow…needless to say I will not compain about anyone’s driving or traffic ever again…

Tomorrow we begin work at the bank…more stories and pics to come…
